Kazakhstan, Norway discuss cooperation in sustainable energy development
Kazakh Minister of Environment and Water Resources Nurlan Kapparov paid a working visit to the Kingdom of Norway, the ministry’s press service reported. During his trip, Mr Kapparov met with the representatives of the business circles of Norway and had talks with Norwegian Climate and Environment Minister Tine Sundtoft. The Ministers discuss cooperation in the field of sustainable energy, clean technologies and innovations, management of natural resources. The sides also focused on Kazakhstan’s green economy transition concept and an opportunity of mutual support within Norway’s Energy Plus initiative and Green Bridge Partnership Programme.Mr Kapparov also had a meeting with Minister of Fisheries Elizabeth Aspaker and Deputy Minister of Trade, Fisheries and Industry Dilek Ayhan. During the meeting, the Kazakh Minister briefed on Kazakhstan’s goal to join the top 30 developed countries of the world and the measures taken. He also informed of Kazakhstan’s fishery development programme elaborated within the country’s transition to green economy.
He added that Kazakhstan is interested in the development of aquaculture and learning Norway’s experience. Minister Kapparov invited official and business circles of Norway to take part in the VII Astana economic forum and preparations for holding EXPO 2017 in Astana.
