Norway gives financial aid of NOK 60 million to Iraq
Norway will donate NOK 60 million in emergency aid to Iraq, Minister of Foreign Affairs Børge Brende (The Conservative Party/Høyre) announced Wednesday afternoon.
There is currently a severe humanitarian crisis in Iraq, Brende stated at Wednesday’s press conference.
“I am extremely concerned about the increasing conflict in Iraq. There is an immediate need for emergency aid that has to be resolved quickly. First and foremost there is a need for food, water, shelter, health care and civil protection. Norway will contribute with humanitarian support to the victims of this conflict, says Brende.
The press conference was part of a Oslo Forum, a peace conference that was held at Losby Gods on Wednesday. Peace mediators and individuals that have been involved in peace processes and conflict resolution were gathered, and Brende hosted the conference.
